The presence of mould in your home indicates that the air is too humid. hat, in turn, can be caused by leaky pipes, rainwater seeping into the basement or the seepage from a damaged roof or windows. In a newly built house, dampness can be caused by the continuous drying of the water used in construction. In addition, poor insulation can also contribute to the growth of mould.
Inhaling fragments or spores of mould can cause airway inflammation, nasal congestion, wheezing, chest tightness, cough, and throat irritation. Long-term exposure to high humidity can cause lessen lung function and lead to chronic illnesses, like asthma.
Constant exposure to damp and mould-infested environment can have various consequences for your health. Some people are particularly sensitive to moulds. In these cases mould can lead to stuffy nose, irritated throat, cough or wheezing, and in some cases even skin irritation. People allergic to moulds can have an even more acute reaction than the others. Immunocompromised people and those, who suffer from chronic lung illnesses are at risk of serious lung infections. They should stay away from places that may be mouldy, like compost, mowed grass, forests and absolutely avoid mouldy homes.
Mycotoxins are harmful substances produced by fungi, including mould. At first it was thought that the toxicity of mould is caused by exposure to mycotoxins, but recent studies suggest that the so-called toxic effects are, in fact, an effect of chronic activation of the immune system, which leads to inflammation.
Mycotoxins can kill the neurons in your brain, which directly affects our cognitive functions. Some neurological consequences to ingesting mould include confusion, vertigo, “foggy” brain, hallucinations, seizures and limb tremor.
It was also proved that mycotoxins are cancerogenous, which can cause tumors to develop.
Air ionizer releases negative ions into the air, which neutralize harmful substances carried by positive ions. That way it helps to clear the air in a room. Harmful particles stay attached to the positively charged electrode. The air remains clear for a long time!
